The SoftBums Action Shot You've All Been Waiting For

Many people ask to see action shots of cloth diapers on newborns; specifically one size diapers. Most one size diapers start fitting babies at about ten pounds. However, the one size SoftBums all in two cloth diaper really will fit a newborn weighing as little as six pounds.

I regret that I don't have any "action shots" of SoftBums on a newborn. However, if it's any reconciliation, here is SoftBums on a small stuffed bunny which is, could I say...newborn sized? The bunny is wearing a one size SoftBums diaper with the organic bamboo velour insert.

Now that's tiny and trim! I think you'd like SoftBums on your little one...hopefully a baby and not a stuffed bunny ;) At MegBee Baby, we offer SoftBums in "Al A Carte" fashion. That means you can purchase the SoftBums cover and inserts separately in any combination you'd like. In essence, you can create your own packs. If you'd like the typical "Basic Pack" which includes one cover, three inserts, and one doubler, we have that option in microfiber. Bamboo Basic packs can be created by purchasing items separately and will have a very small price difference of $1.

If you'd like to give them a try then check out our huge spring sale! Right now all cloth diapers are on sale for 15% off. Plus, all other items at MegBee Baby are on sale for 10% off. I hope you all have a happy spring!

Bamboo Baby One Size Diaper Review

The Bamboo Baby One Size Cloth Diaper is fairly new on the market. It's made in Canada by Dri-Line Baby and retails for $21.95. We like to carry cloth diapers that are one size because many people (myself included) like the aspect of not having to size up and buy a new stash of diapers as baby grows. A one size diaper has snaps or adjustable leg elastic that are easily adjustable and accommodate babies of a wide weight range, typically 10-30 lbs or so. An All in One diaper is similar to a disposable diaper in the way that it is all one piece; thus you don't have to do any stuffing, covers, etc because it has a waterproof outer and absorbent inner. As it turns out, there aren't as many one size all in one cloth diapers as I thought there would be. So when I found the Bamboo Baby AIO Diaper, I was happy that it met these specifications and more.

Features:
Super strong velcro closures
That's right, this is tough stuff. I imagine a toddler that is prone to diaper stripping would have trouble with these dipes. The effort to get them off isn't frustrating for parents; it's simply about the same ease of use as snap diapers. The Bamboo Baby diaper hasn't taken off in popularity yet and there are few reviews on them. Perhaps this is because the first edition of bamboo baby had very weak aplix that didn't hold at all. Well, the problem has since been taken care of. These tabs are great! Another bonus is that the velcro is unexposed (covered in fabric) thus ensuring it lasts longer.
Fewer snaps to deal with
Have you ever put a one size diaper with a snap rise adjustment on baby only to pull on it for a tighter fit and have the snaps come undone? It gets a bit annoying. Well, the Bamboo Baby snaps are durable and seem to pop off much less than other brands I've tried (take for example, Bumgenius). Even if they do pop off, I like that there are only two snaps for each rise adjustment that would need re-snapping.
Three size options
The manufacturer suggests that the Bamboo Baby cloth diaper should fit most babies 8-34 lbs. This diaper has three rows of snaps for a comfortable fit of small, medium, and large. The small *could* fit a newborn but I think it may look a little bulky. Not more so than a bumgenius 3.0 though. For a better fit, I'd start using these at about 10 lbs.
Large laundry tabs
Laundry tabs are simply a patch that the velcro secures to when not on baby. This enables you to have no exposed velcro during washing, thus preventing "diaper chain" and "the fuzzies."
Bamboo Inner
I'm a huge fan of Bamboo fabric. It works great for cloth diapers because of its high absorbency, softness, breathability, and antimicrobial properties. It's also eco-friendly as it’s easily renewable. Dri-line doesn't claim that this product is organic. It's 80% Bamboo, 20% Polyester.
No exposed snaps
...meaning the snaps never touch baby. The soaker covers them so your baby will be comfortable and not get scratched.
Quick Dry Soaker
The soaker is sewn in at only one end. This is a bonus for a couple reasons. All in One's tend to take longer to dry. Dry time is reduced quite a bit faster when the soaker flaps up, as on the Bamboo Baby diaper. It also helps ensure the diaper gets thoroughly cleaned. And lastly, the design enables you to add extra absorbency when needed that isn't as likely to shift. So while you don't need to add anything to the diaper for proper absorbency, you do have that option. Simply add a doubler under the soaker for night time or heavy wetters.
Comfortable & Trim
This diaper is soft and cozy for baby. It has a trim design and fits well without extra "poof." It also has soft tabs. Typically diaper tabs are covered with the cloth part outlining the PUL. On the Bamboo Baby, they are made of a stretchy fleece type material to ensure comfort against baby. Although the tabs are a little large, they still ensure a proper fit and they're easy to grab. The Bamboo Baby also has comfortable leg gussets that help protect from leaks while being comfortable and snug on baby's legs.
Great Color Selection
The Bamboo Baby Diaper comes in 6 colors: orange, lime, blue, butter, white, and sage.

Cute assortment of colors

Bamboo Baby AIO inner (you'll notice the soaker looks a little long. It fits comfortably when on baby but can be folded over for extra absorbency on smaller babies)

Large laundry tabs

The tough laundry tabs can hold on tight during the wash

The quick dry soaker is sewn in at only one end to make washing and drying easier.

Largest setting, fully unsnapped

And what's a review without action shots? Okay so since I don't have a baby, I had to borrow some. Here are a few pictures of the Bamboo Baby...on a baby. (Courtesy of Bamboo Baby/Dri-Line Products.)

Overall, the Bamboo Baby is a quality diaper that is easy for mom, dad, and babysitters alike. I wish I could tell you how they performed but I haven't been able to try them out on a baby. Perhaps you could give them a try so you can let me know! I'm confident that they're a great product but I'll let you be the judge. You can win a bamboo baby one size diaper by entering our giveaway! MegBee Baby Has a New Look!

MegBee Baby opened in October, 2009. After getting our feet wet with ecommerce, we found that we could use some features such as product zoom with scroll over and a more modern look. Thus, we moved to a new ecommerce host to better serve our customers. We hope you like the new website!

Getting to know MegBee Baby

www.megbeebaby.com is a new online baby store. The name comes from…well, my name (Megan B-for Balsmeier…yes that is my last name and I spelled it correctly). Thus “MegBee” is sort of a nickname of mine. It’s also an acronym. Modern (M) Economical (E) Green (G). I’m sure you appreciated the parentheses to specify the obvious! I know I could have bolded the letters but just wanted to be clear ;) The “bee” part also comes from the nickname I gave our first baby that we lost; our little baby bee (again Baby B-for Balsmeier). As you can tell I’m just a down to earth young adult with a strong like for cute baby stuff. However, I also value being a professional business owner and providing top notch customer service. We care about our customers and we’re always excited to share our finds with you and your babies!

At MegBee baby, we’re pleased to offer our customers unique, quality baby items at affordable prices. As Chief Executive Manager (sounds fancy I know…I made it up myself) I work with our wonderful customers. I'm also responsible for product selection, research, and writing of descriptions. My husband is my business partner and handles the technical and financial "stuff." It's a lot of fun offering parents "modern, economical, & green" baby products. I also enjoy staying current with the latest and greatest products. The most important qualities I look for in baby supplies are: quality, affordability, and safety.

At MegBee Baby, we also feature cloth diapers. I have to admit...I never thought I'd be interested in using cloth diapers. Seriously never crossed my mind! I was introduced to cloth diapering because a baby that I watch is cloth diapered. The funny thing is…I don’t actually have a baby. I know, I know…seems kind of strange to have a baby store and to be cloth diaper savvy without one. We’ve been through two miscarriages, as I mentioned a bit about earlier. This kind of explains how I got into the baby biz. I tend to nest early…super early. I’ve read hundreds of reviews on baby bottles, diapers; you name it…even after losing the babies. Perhaps it’s a unique coping mechanism?

Having the best baby stuff makes life easier. That’s why I love what I do. I just really enjoy bringing “the goods” to proud parents like you!

On this blog I hope to enlighten my readers with reviews, tutorials, pictures, cloth diapering info…and so on. I hope you find this information helpful. We’ll also be doing giveaway contests so keep checking with us and feel free to leave comments!

Yup, that's where we store our inventory. The empty square on the top left is now filled with Bamboo Baby one size all in one cloth diapers. Why do I share this? Because everyone is dying to know what belongs in the empty square! Just kidding, the Bamboo Baby Diaper is now stocked and will be my first review. Stay tuned!
